Ethiopian Foundation for Education was created in 1996 by Dr. Abebe Kebede and his wife Dr. Mulumebet Work. The Ethiopian Foundation for Education is a non-political and non-governmetal organization supported by the Ethiopian academicians, businesses, civic organizations and religious establishments. The organization is dedicated to the education of the Ethiopian youth and to serve the Ethiopian community by encouraging volunteerism among Ethiopians world-wide. The Ethiopian Foundation for Education will support research, student fellowships and student exchange programs for outstanding Ethiopians, in Engineering Sciences, Humanities and Medical Sciences. The foundation is a privately funded organization which is dedicated to work with all Ethiopian non-political organizations, Schools,Universities, the Ministry of Education and the Commission for Higher Education. The Ethiopian Foundation for Education is dedicated to help Ethiopians people improve the quality of their lives through learning.
