It is probably acceptable for one to say that there is an overall weakness in our students ability basic science, mathematics and engineering subjects. The dropout rate in many school in these fields is staggering, the performance of students in these fields at the freshman level is less than average. Starting from such position educators are attempting to address the seriousness of the problems at the grass root level. One such community is the Los Angeles Physics Teachers Alliance Group (LAPTAG). Reading from the documents posted on LAPTAG sites are involved in physics education and research which involve K-12 students, K-12 teachers and UCLA,Occidetnal College and others. We propose to establish the Piedmount Triad Physics Teachers Alliance Group (PTP-TAG). Through the STS institute we hope to organize conduct TAG monthly meetings and write grant proposals.
